One of the advantages of living in southern California is the immediate access to countless beaches.  While attending the Sandcastle Competition a few weeks ago, I wondered to myself what Imperial Beach was like normally, without all the crowds. So yesterday, as the day started coming to an end, feeling a nice breeze coming through the front door, I asked Janka if she would like to go and catch the sunset in I.B.
It was already a bit after six but the sun seemed high enough in the sky for us to make it in time.  We grabbed the camera and tripod and headed down I-5.  Parking spots were available right on Shore Drive and there were only a couple of families out enjoying the sunset.  I noticed quite a few real estate signs and began thinking how nice it would be to live this close to the beach.
I love the sound, the smell, and the feel of the beach.  The only part I could have done without were the swarms of Kelp Flies.  I’ll take the good with the bad though; and the slight irritation caused by the flies was barely noticed by Janka or myself.  Great way to begin a Saturday night.
